Big Brothers Big Sisters Is Closing its Doors

Due to several cuts in our organizationís funding, the Big Brothers Big Sisters of North Central West Virginia offices will be closing. Several streams of funding received in past years were not received this year, making our continued operations unfeasible. It is with deep sadness that we close our doors; however, we take great pride in the almost 4,000 matches that we have made in over 30 years of service to the North Central West Virginia community. July 31, 2014 will be our last day of operations.

In spite of our agency closing, we encourage volunteers to continue to find ways to mentor community youth. Many children grow up without a caring adult role model. Role models are necessary for children. Having a positive role model helps a child to develop lifelong assets such as positive values, social competency, self-esteem, sense of purpose, and caring, to name a few.

The Staff and Board of Big Brothers Big Sisters of NCWV are sincerely grateful to the numerous volunteers that have served as Big Brothers and Big Sisters, the WVU student volunteers that have worked on projects for us, and our many community donors. Without your support, we could not have served the community for so long or made as many matches. Thank you for the impact that you have helped us to make.
